The house is a very specific question. It depends on how much it’s worth and what the other assets are in the marriage. There’s a difference between getting to keep as an owner or getting to keep and use a piece of property. A court could give you exclusive possession of the marital abode for a period of years to continue raising the children. The answer to that question lies in how much it costs to carry the house and the income and alimony and child support to be paid.
