Alimony is a term that means spousal support. Spousal support is money paid to a spouse to help them get along. It’s tax deductible under certain circumstances. Under the new tax law, it will not be tax deductible after January 1, 2019. If you have an old agreement that has or calls for spousal support, it will continue to be tax deductible.
