What happens if the other driver involved in the accident is not insured or has minimal coverage?

Unfortunately this happens quite often. Although an under insured or an uninsured driver is still personally responsible for your injuries, most of the time the people who don’t have that insurance or have inadequate insurance don’t have the assets to be able to pay you. So unless you have uninsured or underinsured motorist coverage under your own policy that would provide you with benefits, you could be limited to collecting the minimal insurance that they have, or sometimes unfortunately, nothing at all.
