PIH Health Data Breach Class Action Litigation

By Kantrowitz, Goldhamer & Graifman, P.C.Class Action

Kantrowitz, Goldhamer & Graifman, P.C., is currently investigating PIH Health (“PIH”) regarding a data breach affecting the personal information of over 17 million patients and employees. PIH is a regional healthcare network based in Whittier, California, consisting of three hospitals and numerous other outpatient and specialty medical services throughout Los Angeles, Orange County, and San Gabriel Valley.

On or about December 1, 2024, cybercriminals launched a ransomware attack on PIH’s network, causing significant disruptions in patient care. The hackers, having gained access to PIH’s network, extracted over 2 terabytes worth of sensitive personal and medical information from PIH’s systems. The hackers also provided a link where screenshots of the stolen data had been uploaded. While not yet confirmed by PIH, the following sensitive patient and employee data has likely been compromised:

  • Full names
  • Addresses
  • Phone numbers
  • Cancer patients’ treatment records
  • Medical test results and treatments
  • Confidentiality agreements with employees
  • Nondisclosure agreements between PIH and other medical organizations
