Each year, more than 360 people are killed in wrong-way collisions, often of the head-on variety. Aside from death, these accidents can result in catastrophic injuries like broken bones, spinal cord injuries and traumatic brain injuries.

Sadly, many head-on accidents occur because of avoidable conditions like driving while under the influence of alcohol, distracted driving and vehicle defects.

A Tragic Rockland County Head-On Collision

Sadly, on December 15, 2014, a 24-year-old Stony Point man was killed after his car collided head-on with a car driven by a 75-year-old woman on North Central Highway in Rockland County.

According to LoHud.com, the man was reportedly driving a Ford Focus when witnesses said the car crossed the center line and smashed head-on into a woman’s Lexus. The woman in the Lexus was taken by ambulance to Nyack Hospital for treatment. As of last week, her condition was unknown.

An investigation into the accident is ongoing.
