The Firm is co-counsel for plaintiff in a putative class action against DaimlerChrysler Corp. and Chrysler LLC. The litigation claims that certain vehicles purchased or leased by plaintiff and a class of persons, for model years 1998 through 2004 and equipped with 2.7 litre V6 engines, were prone to oil sludge. The suit claims the engines were defective in that the engine design caused the formation of engine oil sludge to an unacceptable and improper degree, that the build-up of such oil sludge resulted in excessive heating of the engine, excessive wear and tear of the engine, excessive formation of carbon deposits which blocked oil passageways and restriction of oil circulation in the engine, and resulted in substantial failure of the engine and, in certain cases, a combustible event, such as fire or explosion.

The Class Vehicles include the following models: Chrysler Concorde, Chrysler Sebring, Dodge Intrepid or Dodge Stratus (the “Class Vehicles”). The complaint seeks damages for those class members who had to repair or replace engines for the Class Vehicles and for which DaimlerChrysler has refused to pay or to cover under warranty.
