In New York, the statute of limitations for any negligence case including accidents is three years. In New Jersey, the statute of limitations for negligence cases including auto accidents is two ears. The only exception to that would be if the automobile involved was owned or operated by a municipality. In both states, you must give notice within 90 days, and there is a shorter statute of limitations applicable.
