Police ID pedestrian struck, killed on Rte. 17K as 78-year-old Newburgh man

Police have identified the pedestrian who was struck and killed by a car Wednesday night on Route 17K near the Stewart Air National Guard base as Thomas Taylor, 78, a town resident.

Town police said Taylor was walking across Route 17K about 9:55 p.m. when he was struck in the westbound lane by a car that was traveling westbound. Taylor was pronounced dead at the scene.
