Honda Driver Data Privacy Class Action Investigation

By Kantrowitz, Goldhamer & Graifman, P.C.Class Action

Kantrowitz, Goldhamer & Graifman, P.C. is currently investigating reports that American Honda Motor Co., Inc. (“Honda,” including its Acura division) may have unlawfully shared sensitive driver behavior data with third-party data brokers—without vehicle owners’ or lessees’ knowing consent.

According to public sources and regulatory investigations, Honda allegedly transmitted detailed driving behavior data collected through its connected vehicle services to companies such as LexisNexis Risk Solutions and Verisk Analytics, who then made that data accessible to auto insurance providers. This practice may have resulted in increased insurance premiums for unsuspecting drivers across the United States.

Affected individuals may include:

All persons who purchased or leased a Honda or Acura vehicle equipped with connected technology and whose Driver Behavior Data was transmitted without their knowing consent to unauthorized third-parties, such as LexisNexis Risk Solutions and Verisk Analytics.

Driver Behavior Data may include:

  • Vehicle speed and acceleration habits
  • Braking patterns
  • Trip duration and frequency
  • Mileage and location history
  • Data transmitted via HondaLink or other telematics platforms

The alleged data sharing occurred without adequate notice or clear opt-out options for consumers, potentially violating federal and state privacy laws. Some vehicle owners may only become aware of the data transmission after discovering unexplained hikes in their insurance premiums.

If you own or lease a Honda or Acura vehicle and believe your driving behavior data was accessed or shared without your authorization, you may have legal rights under consumer protection and privacy laws.
