Tests Find Heavy Metals in Baby Food

The congressional investigation found that manufacturers of commercial baby foods “routinely ignore internal standards” and continue to sell products with dangerously high heavy metal levels.

Research indicates that even trace amounts of mercury, lead, and other heavy metal contaminants can diminish a child’s IQ and increase the risk of Autism spectrum disorder (ASD).

Parents trust that baby food products are nutritious and safe, but increasing evidence suggests this is far from the case. The congressional report found high levels of toxic metals in popular baby foods – including organic products — made by: Gerber, Nurture, Inc. (Happy Family Organics), Beech-Nut Nutrition Company, Sprout Foods, Earth’s Best Organic, Walmart’s Parent’s Choice, and Campbell’s Plum Organics.
