Sometimes, marriages can become intolerable because of issues like finances. In 2012, Psychology Today reported that one of the most significant factors leading to divorce is the differences in money management styles between partners.

In some cases, the fighting occurs over another person’s penchant for expensive items. This can create tension and fighting, which can become overwhelming.

Amazingly, CNN recently reported that two professors at Emory University found that there was a correlation between wedding costs and divorce rates. The economic professors discovered that couples who had weddings that were more expensive were more likely to become divorced.

According to their study, which was conducted among 3,151 adults in the United States, women whose weddings cost more than $20,000 had a divorce rate roughly 1.6 times higher than women did whose weddings cost between $5,000 and $10,000.

“Overall, our findings provide little evidence to support the validity of the wedding industry’s general message that connects expensive weddings with positive marital outcomes,” professor Andrew M. Francis told CNN.
