As we reported last month, the class action attorneys at Kantrowitz, Goldhamer & Graifman, P.C. have filed a lawsuit over the credit card data breach at Home Depot, which has affected the identities of up to 56 million cardholders who shopped at the store. 
Recently, the Atlanta Business Chronicle reported that at least 21 federal lawsuits had been filed against the home improvement superstore as of October 10. The news outlet reported that the lawsuits (along with ours) are attempting to gain class action status, allowing them to represent the large group of people impacted by the data breach.
It should be noted that as of last week, Home Depot had not responded to the lawsuits. The company has until December 15 to answer allegations in several of the lawsuits, as a federal court in Atlanta decides how it will move forward with processing claims.
The breach was truly egregious. In one case, a man claimed that he used his credit card to purchase goods at a Home Depot store located in California, and that his personal information was compromised, leading his bank to freeze his account while he was attempting to get his automobile repaired.
