Louis Gerber is an experienced trial attorney helping individuals in the area of matrimonial and family law. He is licensed to practice in New York, New Jersey and Louisiana.
Louis was a member of the Dean’s List at the University of Wisconsin and graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science. He earned his Juris Doctor from Tulane Law School where he was a member of the Moot Court Board.
Prior to joining Kantrowitz, Goldhamer & Graifman, P.C., Louis was Senior Counsel in the Special Litigation Unit of the New York City Law Department. As Senior Counsel, Louis litigated complex commercial actions filed against the city of New York and was trial counsel for high profile civil rights cases. Notably, Louis was lead counsel in the mass actions related to the 2007 steam rupture in midtown Manhattan. He was also the City’s trial counsel in cases arising from the Staten Island Ferry accident in 2003 and was trial counsel in civil rights actions stemming from the New York Police Department’s use of deadly physical force. Louis has tried cases in both state and federal court as well as argued cases in the court of appeals.
Louis is an active member of the New York City Bar Association, Bergen County Bar Association and Rockland County Bar Association.
He lives in Ridgewood, NJ, with his wife and two daughters.
