According to LoHud.com, a 15-year-old had to undergo surgery after a car jumped a curb in West Haverstraw and hit him as he walked along the sidewalk on April 1. personal-injury

The boy reportedly suffered multiple compound fractures and head injuries. As of last week, he was being treated at Westchester Medical Center in Valhalla.

The driver involved in the accident, Javier Vazquez, 17, of Pomona, and his two passengers were injured but not as seriously, according to LoHud.com.

Vazquez was reportedly driving a 2012 Nissan Rogue at around 9 p.m., when he crossed a double yellow line on Samsondale Avenue and sideswiped a car coming in the opposite direction.

He then lost control of the Nissan and jumped the curb, striking the 15-year-old boy before crashing into a building.

The accident remains under investigation. Charges are pending.
