New York State Police in this FiOS-TV video discuss a fatal car accident on the busiest stretch of the Meadowbrook State Parkway (MSP) on March 4. The crash occurred on the southbound side of the MSP between the Southern State Parkway and the Babylon Turnpike.

Two motorists, 76-year-old John Elder and 65-year-old Edward Ross, were attempting to get a Nissan Maxima running again when a southbound pickup struck the disabled vehicle and the two men. The victims were thrown several feet from the point of impact, and both were pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the pickup, 50-year-old Robert Beodeker was initially charged with reckless driving and driving with a suspended license. WABC-TV reported that Beodeker told police he had taken Ambien and medication for depression, but he was arrested again after state police said toxicology tests showed both methamphetamine and amphetamine in Beodeker’s system. The father of three now faces additional criminal charges.
