According to the New York Daily News, actor Charlie Sheen’s children are going to live with an uncle after actress Denise Richards asked them to be removed from her home following a dispute over alleged violent behavior.

The Daily News reported that Scott Mueller, the brother of Sheen’s ex-wife Brooke Mueller, has been named the temporary guardian of the 4-year-old twin boys. Mueller reportedly has issues with drug use and has had numerous stints in rehab.

Richards, who was married to Sheen prior to Mueller, was acting as a guardian for the boys, while issues involving substance abuse with Mueller were ongoing. Richards had children with Sheen prior to his marriage to Mueller, keeping the twins at her home full-time.

According to the Daily News, Richards informed a court recently that she wanted to step down as the twins’ guardian because Mueller allegedly blocked her attempt to get them professional help for “violent behavior”.

The Los Angeles County Department of Children and Family Services (DCFS) reportedly tried to ask Richards to keep the kids. “A special mediation with Richards, Mueller and DCFS Medical Director Dr. Charles Sophy on [November 7] failed to keep Richards onboard while officials continue their effort to gradually “reunify” the twins with Mueller,” gossip site TMZ reported.

Sheen reportedly sides with Richards, believing the twins may have undiagnosed fetal alcohol syndrome and has not agreed with Mueller’s decision to block behavioral assessments.

“He wants to push DCFS to have the boys evaluated by a psychiatrist. He wants an intervention,” a source close to Sheen told the Daily News. “Brooke says she doesn’t want anything that might lead to medication, but the real reason she doesn’t want this, in my opinion, is that it would expose her actions.”

Richards said in a letter to DCFS officials that the twins kicked and punched her daughters in “zombie-like” attacks while they were under her watch.
