The Firm is co-lead counsel on a class action brought on behalf of all persons and entities who purchased magazine subscriptions under offers made by, or under the direction of, the defendant Synapse Group Inc. or any of its affiliates or brand names, including TWX Magazines, NSS Magazine Subscriptions, Magazine Direct, New Subservices, SynapseConnect, Synapse Solutions and CAP Systems. The complaint alleges that Synapse Group fails to adequately notify customers of their forthcoming automatic magazine subscription renewals and their options for canceling the renewals before charges are placed on the customer’s credit card and/or bank statement for the renewals.
The complaint alleges that Synapse Group’s notice of their automatic renewals is deceptive in that it does not clearly and conspicuously notify the customer of the automatic renewal and fails to provide a direct manner in which to cancel such automatic renewals of magazine subscriptions if the client so chooses. The complaint alleges that Synapse’s practices violate industry standards, federal law, and state consumer fraud statutes.
